Hypo inaugurates campaign on Ebola

Multipro Enterprise Limited, makers of Hypo bleach, has inaugurated a sanitation campaign targeted at checking the nation’s health challenges, especially the Ebola Virus Disease.
The company’s Senior Sales Manager, Hypo Division, Mr. Jude Nzeata, stated this at the inauguration of the campaign in Ogba/Ikeja communities in Lagos.
According to him, the initiative is part of efforts aimed at preventing Ebola outbreak in the country.
Nzeata said, “According to the World Health Organisation, routine cleaning and disinfection of home and surroundings with sodium hypochlorite, an active ingredient in bleach should be effective in inactivating most viruses and other dangerous bacteria.
“This initiative is to encourage the society to cultivate and maintain the culture of a clean and germ free environment, especially at a time when we are recording cases of infectious diseases.”
According to him, over five million households and hospitals in the country have benefitted from the infection control programme in the last three years.
He added, “We want to encourage the public in ensuring a clean, greener and friendly environment against the spread of communicable diseases and infections, such as cholera, Ebola, flu, and other pathogens.”
He advised mothers to use disinfectants regularly in their toilets, drainage channels, tiles, floors and other hard surfaces in their homes.
Meanwhile, the Chief Medical Director, County Hospital Ogba, Lagos, Dr. Amos Azun, has urged hospitals to regularly disinfect their surgical equipment to reduce the risks of contracting infections.
Azun noted that because of the presence of the sick in hospitals, proprietors of such facilities should endeavour to educate their staff on the importance of hygiene
